14 Tips To Get Rid Of Skin Rash

A rash is basically an irritation of the skin, causing itching, stains, and rashes. Rashes may occur for a variety of reasons such as allergies, dry skin, virus-related, mycological, microbial infection, dermatitis, acne, eczema and mosquito bites. Skin rashes may look transmittable on their primary stage during break. The symptoms of rashes can be a burning sensation and red spots on the skin. There are different treatment of rashes that can be done at home and also medical procedures to get rid of this. The type of treatment depends on the type of rash that has affected the person. Here are some effective ways to get rid of a rash.

1. Cool compress or Ice wrap: Cold compress or ice therapy is highly beneficial when having skin rashes. It helps once the rash begins to develop into blisters.  It is especially good for the rashes that are caused by insect bites and contact dermatitis due to irritants. Furthermore, it helps shrink pimples. Thus, you can place a cool, moist washcloth, or ice cubes wrapped in a towel on the affected area for 10-15 minutes to lessen the problem and soothe the hurtful and burning feeling. Application of full fat, cold milk, too, has a calming effect on rashes.

2. Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera gel is cooling and soothing agent to get rid of a rash. The Aloe Vera plant is nature’s anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal medicine cure. The adhesive juice from a leaf of this plant is safe and harmless, thus it can be applied straight to the skin. The gel should be rubbed on the affected part of the body two to three times. The anti-inflammatory property of the gel will reduce the irritation. This gel also provides protection due to blister of cut due to itching.

3. Calamine Lotion: It is an extremely popular treatment for the skin. It is a mixture of zinc oxide and iron. It is available in different forms like as a cream, an oil based lotion and water based lotion. Any calamine lotion or a nonprescription anti-itch cream containing 1 percent or more of hydrocortisone cream can be used for the treatment of rash. The calamine cream or the lotion can be applied as often as desired unless it is directed otherwise.

4. Neem Leaves: Neem is a natural treatment that has anti-inflammatory properties. It can be applied directly to the skin. First, take a handful of neem leaves (Indian lilac) in a cup and boil them in water for 15-20 minutes. Strain the decoction produced and allow it to cool. Finally, soak a cotton ball in this solution and rub it on the affected areas to prevent and cure skin disorders and infections. Alternatively, neem extract or neem oil may also be used.5. Oatmeal :  Oatmeal can be made into a paste and applied to the rash for immediate relief. You can also have a bath with oatmeal, which is very much helpful. First, fill your bathtub with tepid water and add a sprinkle of baking soda or colloidal oatmeal to it. Bathe in the water for 15 to 20 minutes. You can also use ice with your bath to increase the soothing feeling.

6. Cucumber:  Applying Cucumber on the affected place lessens the pain and irritation. Rub on cucumber on the affected area for 3-5 minutes. Then clean the place.

7. Over Counter Antihistamine: A nonprescription oral antihistamine like diphenhydramine, may be taken as often as directed. You will usually need to take one pill every four to six hours. Though it may cause drowsiness and it is only effective against rashes caused by allergens.

8. Herbal Teas: You can brew and drench herbs or roots that are naturally anti-inflammatory and soothing for rashes and put it in hot water and drink the tea or apply it on the affected places. There are some specific herbal teas that contain antihistamine chemicals. Some of these are: chamomile, oak bark, barley, green tea, poppy seeds, licorice root, Goldenseal, devil’s claw, stinging nettle, coltsfoot and more. Other herbal plants that help to get rid of a rash and which contain natural antihistamine compounds are: fennel, ginkgo, oregano, tarragon, thyme, and yarrow.

9. Use Light and soft Cotton Cloths: Rashes give itchy and burning feeling and it is worsened if heavy clothes are put on especially on the affected areas. Try putting on your lightest and most comfortable clothes, cotton is good for this, and keep your body cool to keep the rashes from worsening.

10. Basil Leaves: This is another natural treatment for rashes. In a blender take one tablespoon of olive oil, 15 basil leaves, pepper, 2 garlic cloves and salt. Blend intensively. Apply this prepared mixture on the rashes.

11. Tulsi Leaves: It is also a part of the Basil herb family. It is commonly called Holy Basil. It is widely available in different and can be applied in different ways. It can be used in bath water, used as soaps and also as a powder. It also addresses the side effects of rashes and help our immune system.

12. Bananas: Rubbing the inside end of a banana peel gives soothing feeling on the places where rashes have affected. Rashes caused by insects, acne or eczema can be reduced by using this method. The raw peel exfoliates the skin to eliminate scaly skin patches and rash irritations. A banana peel can be stored in the refrigerator and reused up to three times on the skin before it is to be discarded.

13. Prescription Corticosteroid Cream or oral shot: These are similar to the over the counter hydrocortisone creams, but these have stronger steroids and are more effective. But these require prescription by the medic. These work very well against long lasting chronic rashes. It can be found in both tablet form and oral shots. It should be noted that while taking such medication, it should be prescribed by a doctor to take these and follow the instructions as these are high dose medicine.

14. Other Ways: Essential Oils like geranium, Cedarwood, sandalwood, rose, lavender, Roman chamomile, and tea tree all have ingredients that aids healing skin rashes and can be used for the medication of this problem easily and directly on the affected region. Besides these, witch hazel, olive oil, cod liver oil and vitamin E can be used in different ways to get relief from this problem.

Things To Do And Not To Do With Rashes

Pay attention to rashes and maintain a good hygiene.

Do not scratch the places affected by rashes.

Protect the affected area from direct sunlight and put on light clothes.

Do not keep the affected places covered all the times, let the skin breathe sometimes.

Do not use harsh soaps.
